IWS Geographical Information Systems (Private) Limited
IWS Geographical Systems (GIS) is Sri Lanka’s pioneer in Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and GPS based consumer electronics. Established in 2004, GIS is the first company in Sri Lanka to obtain a license from the Department of Survey to edit and modify the layers of electronic mapping.
As the innovator of Sri Lanka’s first independent geographical data gathering process, GIS has built a unique and enhanced digital database which is used as a primary proprietary resource for its entire location-based services countrywide.
In 2005 IWS GIS launched TrackerLite, an innovative satellite-based vehicle monitoring and management system which soon became the benchmark technology for vehicle security management services in Sri Lanka. IWS GIS has also collaborated with NAVTAQ (Partner of NOKIA) to provide satellite database and information to develop GIS base mapping, positioning itself as a trusted business in the GIS industry.
